 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. BOLLYWOOD ACTOR 'GOVINDA' RUSHED TO THE HOSPITAL AFTER HE ACCIDENTALLY SHOT HIMSELF IN THE LEG WITH HIS OWN REVOLVER. (PHOTO).


 Bollywood actor Govinda was rushed to a hospital in Mumbai on Tuesday after accidentally shooting himself in the leg with his own revolver. The incident took place at his residence in Juhu early in the morning while he was preparing to leave for Kolkata. The actor was handling his licensed revolver when it slipped from his hand and misfired, causing the injury.


Govinda’s manager, Shashi Sinha, shared details of the accident, explaining that the actor was about to leave for the airport to catch a flight when the revolver accidentally fired. He confirmed that the bullet had been removed from Govinda’s leg and that the actor’s condition was stable. “He is in the hospital, but doing fine,” Sinha said.


The Mumbai Police also confirmed that Govinda’s injury was not serious and that he was taken to the hospital as a precaution. No case has been filed as no complaint has been made, but a police officer mentioned that a diary entry would be recorded after speaking with the actor’s family.


Govinda later thanked his fans and the doctors for their support. He expressed gratitude for their prayers and confirmed that the bullet had been successfully removed, saying, “With the blessings of you all and my parents, I am fine now.”
