 President Trump awarded inaugural FIFA Peace Prize at World Cup draw in Washington  Gianni Infantino, the FIFA President presented the honour onstage at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts on Friday, saying Trump had been selected “in recognition of his exceptional and extraordinary actions to promote peace and unity around the world”. “This is your prize, this is your peace prize,” Infantino said, after Trump took the stage to accept the trophy, a medal and certificate. “There is also a beautiful medal for you that you can wear everywhere you want to go.”   FIFA says the prize is for “individuals who help unite people in peace through unwavering commitment and special actions”.  Accepting the award, Trump called it “one of the great honours of my life”, before claiming to have “saved millions and millions of lives – the Congo is an example, over 10 million people killed and it was heading for another 10 million very quickly. Farouk Lawan completes Five Years Jail Term Over $500000 Bribe From Femi Otedola

 

A former member of the House of Representative, Farouk Lawan, who was jailed for bribery in 2021, has been released from Kuje prison.


Lawan was convicted and sentenced to prison in 2021 for accepting a $500,000 bribe from a prominent businessman, Femi Otedola.


Otedola was then Chairman, Zenon Petroleum and Gas Limited.


The Supreme Court also early this year upheld the five years sentence of the former House of Representatives member.


His appeal sought to set aside the February 24, 2022 judgment of the Court of Appeal in Abuja, which sentenced him to a five-year jail term and discharged him on two out of the three counts on the corruption charge brought against him by the Federal Government failed.


Farouk stepped out of Kuje prison on Tuesday after completing his jail term.


The lawmaker announced his freedom in a statement he personally penned and made available to The Eagle Online on Tuesday.
