 STATEHOUSE PRESS STATEMENT PRESIDENCY DISCLAIMS 2027 CAMPAIGN BILLBOARDS NATIONWIDE   The Presidency has observed, with dismay, the increasing number of billboards in some cities promoting the 2027 campaign for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima. Worth noting is that some of these billboards with pictures of the President and his wife, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, emblazoned on them are springing up in Abuja and Kano in particular. While President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima greatly appreciate their teeming and loyal supporters across the country for their enthusiasm and continuing support, the two leaders do not support any campaign that breaches the laws of the land. The electoral law that guides the conduct of elections and political campaigns forbids any form of campaign for the 2027 general elections.  GIRLS VISION FOR THE FUTURE: THRIVING BEYOND DISABILITY 


The General Manager of the Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs, Mrs. Adenike Oyetunde-Lawal, joined Raising Star Africa in celebrating this year’s International Day of the Girl Child, themed “Girls' Vision for the Future: Thriving Beyond Disability.”


To commemorate the day, an inspiring session was held with students at State Junior Grammar School (Special), Itolo Street, off Eric Moore, Surulere, Lagos, on Friday, 11th October 2024.


During the event, the General Manager shared her personal experiences, motivating the young girls to believe in their potential and pursue their dreams. She showed them that they can rise above challenges and achieve anything they set their minds to.


The event served as a powerful reminder that every girl, regardless of her circumstances, can become the best version of herself.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up. The Appellant is an actor. He acted in a script that he was invited to act by his colleague (PW1), Damilola Adekoya,” he said.
