 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. GOVERNOR SOLUDO HAS TURNED ANAMBRA STATE TO  HUGE CONSTRUCTION SITE

Gov. Chukwuma Soludo has shown that with strategic and massive road construction projects, the State could be given a facelift. Since assuming office, his administration has initiated groundbreaking road projects to make the state a liveable and prosperous homeland.

In the last two years and counting, the Governor has awarded over 500km of brand-new roads with over 250km completed while others are either ongoing or nearing completion. This showed that every nook and cranny of the state harboured construction sites where heavy equipment have been mobilized for construction works.

On assumption of office, the governor took a careful look on why roads constructed by previous administrations failed within two years after completion, he, then, introduced latest technologies in road construction that will make Anambra road last for at least 20 years.

Some of these latest technologies include the introduction of soil cement stabilization, stone base stabilization and lastly the wearing cost. And there is strict compliance to international best practice in road construction which is the prerequisite for award of any road contract.

Some of the roads that have been completed by the Soludo's administration included;

Driving throughout the State, you will be amazed that even with the rain, massive construction works is ongoing, notable among them are; the dualization project from Awka-Nise-Agulu-Nanka-Ekwulobia-Uga road, which is steadily being worked on; the ongoing Construction of Ekwulobia flyover bridge. The project will ease the traffic gridlock in the area when completed. 

Ekwulobia, which used to be a suburban city is gradually growing into a major urban hub in the state, especially with the projects being done like the construction of ultra modern park and fire service, the Construction of Amansea-Ifite Awka - Aroma bypass-Ekwueme Square -New Government House road, a drive through the ever busy Enugu -Onitsha Expressway (Aroma Section) will convince you, the Rehabilitation of Afor Nkpor-Eke Nkpor-Eke Obosi (with a spur to Ukwudala junction)-Nkwo Obosi, the construction of phase I & II Discharge Channel Nnobi-Nkpor Road, the Construction of Center Nnokwo-Adazi-Ichida road, the Construction of Ozubulu -Atani road with a bridge among others.

Other infrastructural projects being undertaken by the Soludo-led government included the Construction of Solution Fun City Awka, Construction of the New Government House, Remodeling of Ekwueme Square, Construction of Solution Innovation District, Construction of Five Star Hotel in Awka, and School of Health Technology Obosi.

In all, Anambra State under Soludo has become a huge construction yard, and the outcome of the projects when completed may leave Soludo’s name on the sands of time, long after he might have left government.

These projects demonstrate Soludo’s commitment to creating a prosperous homeland where future generations will thrive and have no reason to leave. With his economic expertise and vision, Soludo is poised to transform Anambra State into a beacon of progress in Nigeria.
