 TROOPS ARREST SUSPECTED KIDNAPPER, RECOVER AK-47 RIFLE ALONG BENIN–SAPELE ROAD Troops of 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, Operation WABAIZIGAN, have arrested a suspected kidnapper and recovered an AK-47 rifle and ammunition during a targeted operation along the Benin–Sapele Road in Ikpoba-Okha LGA of Edo State. The suspect, identified as Olamide Oyeniyi, was arrested on 12 September 2026 at Obaretin Community by troops conducting operations to disrupt criminal activities and safeguard major transportation routes within the area. Items recovered from the suspect include one AK-47 rifle, one magazine and eight rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition. Other items recovered are one Tecno mobile phone, two bags, one torchlight, one music box and assorted charms.  Hardship: Nigerian Govt, NLC, TUC meet over fuel price, others


A delegation of the Nigerian government, on Wednesday, met with leaders of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, TUC.


The meeting which, convened by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, George Akume, is centred around the state of the nation, especially petrol pricing and its consequences.


At the meeting were Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser, NSA; Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, Labour Minister; Wale Edun, Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy.


Others are Alhaji Mohammed Idris, Information Minister; Heineken Lokpobiri, Petroleum Minister, State; Ekperikpe Ekpo, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), and representatives of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Limited, Vanguard reports.


This is coming amid the adjustment of NNPCL pump price of fuel from N897 per litre to N1,030 in Abuja, and from N855 to N998 in Lagos.
