 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police.  Idemili South Chairman Commissions Roads Built by Ebuzoeme, Tasks Others To Embrace Soludo's PPCP Initiative

The Executive Chairman, Idemili South Local Government Area, Mrs Amaka Obi has commissioned two road projects in Ezema village, Ojoto, tasking Umu Idemili to embrace Governor Soludo's Public Private Community Partnership (PPCP) initiative.


The roads which were attracted by a retired Director of Engineering Services at the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing Abuja, Mr Felix Ebuzoeme was a very special intervention projects from Federal Ministry of Works and Housing.


The projects included; a 200 meter road close to Orasonic filling station, Oba/Nnewi new road, Ojoto and another 300-meter Road linking St Paul's Catholic Church from Oba/Nnewi old Road to Oba/Nnewi new Road, Ojoto.


Speaking during the commissioning, Mrs. Obi appreciated Mr Ebuzoeme for his commitment to the progress of Ojoto, Idemili South and Anambra State, saying that he has embraced PPCP initiative which Professor Soludo has been appealing to Ndi Anambra to adopt towards making the state prosperous, healthy and liveable.


According to her, the PPCP, also known as the ‘Solu Dozie’ Anambra Initiative, serves as a major platform created by the state government to unite Ndi Anambra across the globe allowing them to witness the development of social infrastructure, recognize their contributions, and participate in the growth of their communities.


She emphasized that while the state government is doing a great job with limited resources, they cannot achieve everything alone. This is why the PPCP initiative requires every illustrious sons or daughter from Anambra State both at home and in diaspora to embrace and spread the good news to the grassroots.


Mrs Obi said that the roads would serve the people in the community, passers by, and appealed more stakeholders to assist in the development of their communities and Idemili South.


"Mr Felix Ebuzoeme is not the only person that has contacts or connections to attract such massive road construction projects with Kerb stones road demarcations all over and solar street lights.


"Some other people in his shoes could have gotten the contact, monetized it and pocketed the funds but he chose to ensure that these two roads were constructed.


"I am pleading to our people both at home and in diaspora to emulate Mr Ebuzoeme and embrace the PPCP towards developing, their Communities, Idemili South and Anambra State in extension", Mrs Obi said.


The chairman further inspected the 1.2kilometers Nze Augustine Nwafor Chinwa Road by St Barnabas Road located at Umuezema Village, Ojoto Under Construction by Ambassador Chinedu Okonkwo through PPCP.


Other dignitaries who attended the commissioning cum inspection included Deputy Mayor, Mr. Ifeanyi Anakuba, Ojoto ward councillor, Prince Chibueze Okoli, Chairman of Contact and Mobilization, Prince Dozie Okafor and many others.
