 Four North Carolina utility workers were tragically killed when a dump truck driver drove through a stop sign and crashed into a crew of workers. This heartbreaking incident occurred at 1:23 p.m. on Thursday afternoon in Eden, North Carolina. According to reports, a City of Eden dump truck driven by 66-year-old Michael Vernon ran a stop sign at the intersection of Carroll and Church Street in Eden. After blowing through the intersection, Vernon struck 6 utility workers with Duke Energy who were working on power lines for Carolina Power and Signalization. The dump truck then struck an occupied bucket truck before going off the road into a ditch. Four of the utility workers were sadly pronounced deceased on the scene while 2 others were life-flighted to a nearby hospital in critical condition.  In a disturbing case, police officials reported that a 16-year-old girl in Uttar Pradesh was allegedly raped repeatedly by her father. According to rural police superintendent Sagar Jain, the victim’s mother died a decade ago, which left her vulnerable to the alleged abuse.


This week, the brave teenager gathered the courage to report the heinous crime to the police, recounting the horrific experiences she endured at the hands of her father. She revealed that whenever she protested or resisted, he would brutally beat her. Despite her family members being informed about the situation and the Panchayat issuing a warning to her father, the alleged abuse continued.


Based on her complaint, an FIR was registered, and the victim was sent for a medical examination. The accused father has been arrested, and further investigation is currently ongoing, as confirmed by Superintendent Jain. This disturbing incident underscores the urgent need for greater awareness and support for victims of child abuse.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha.
