 NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances  -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states  In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots. JORABAT: A TRUCK DRIVER BRUTALLY KILLED A UNIVERSITY ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER. (PHOTO).


 A shocking incident occurred in Jorabat where an Administrative Officer of Cotton University, Dhrubajyoti Barman, was brutally killed by a truck driver. Mr. Barman, who also serves as the superintendent of Cotton University’s Hostel, was travelling from Guwahati to Tezpur when the attack took place. This unexpected act of violence has left the academic community in shock.


According to eyewitnesses and reports, the altercation began following a minor accident between Mr. Barman’s vehicle and a truck. The disagreement between Dhrubajyoti and the truck driver quickly escalated. In a fit of rage, the truck driver allegedly attacked Dr. Barman with an iron rod, severely injuring and killing him.


Following the assault, bystanders rushed to the scene and attempted to intervene. The local police have been informed and are actively investigating the incident.


The incident has sparked outrage among the student community and faculty members of Cotton University, who have called for stringent action against the assailant. Authorities are urging the public to maintain peace and have assured that the truck driver responsible for the attack will be brought to justice.
