  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. JORABAT: A TRUCK DRIVER BRUTALLY KILLED A UNIVERSITY ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER. (PHOTO).


 A shocking incident occurred in Jorabat where an Administrative Officer of Cotton University, Dhrubajyoti Barman, was brutally killed by a truck driver. Mr. Barman, who also serves as the superintendent of Cotton University’s Hostel, was travelling from Guwahati to Tezpur when the attack took place. This unexpected act of violence has left the academic community in shock.


According to eyewitnesses and reports, the altercation began following a minor accident between Mr. Barman’s vehicle and a truck. The disagreement between Dhrubajyoti and the truck driver quickly escalated. In a fit of rage, the truck driver allegedly attacked Dr. Barman with an iron rod, severely injuring and killing him.


Following the assault, bystanders rushed to the scene and attempted to intervene. The local police have been informed and are actively investigating the incident.


The incident has sparked outrage among the student community and faculty members of Cotton University, who have called for stringent action against the assailant. Authorities are urging the public to maintain peace and have assured that the truck driver responsible for the attack will be brought to justice.
