 China, Russia, Iran warships arrive in South Africa for military exercises Chinese, Russian and Iranian warships arrived in South African waters for a week of naval drills starting Friday off the coast of Cape Town. The Chinese-led drills were organized last year under the BRICS bloc of developing nations and South Africa's armed forces said they will bring members of the bloc together to practice maritime safety and anti-piracy operations and “deepen cooperation.” China, Russia and South Africa are longtime members of BRICS, while Iran joined the group in 2024. It was not immediately clear if other countries from the BRICS group — which also includes Brazil, India and the United Arab Emirates among others — would take part in the drills. A spokesperson for the South African armed forces said he wasn't yet able to confirm all the countries participating in the drills, which are due to run until next Friday.  No food for lazy man, Remi Tinubu tells youths


First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, on Thursday, charged Nigerian youths to be hardworking, saying “There is no food for the lazy man.”


She spoke at the palace of Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, in Ile-Ife, Osun State.


The first lady was in Ife to inaugurate hostel and a 2.7 kilometer road donated to Ọbafẹmi Awolọwọ University, (OAU), Ile Ife, by the Ooni of Ife and named after her.


In her remarks at the palace, Mrs Tinubu said “There is no food for the lazy man, even God worked for six days and rested on the seventh day.


“Nigeria is a land that’s flowing with milk and honey, but we need to sustain it for generations to come.


“God has richly blessed my family before getting to presidency and we are contented with what we have.”


Tinubu’s Wife also urged Nigerians to exercise patience with Tinubu’s administration and assured hope for a better future.


According to her, the current administration is committed to providing sustainable development for Nigerians, saying the government will do all it takes to ensure that Nigerians are not disappointed.


“This administration just spent less than 18 months, so, it is not the cause of the economic challenges on ground.


“We are trying all our efforts to ensure that the economy is stabilised and masses are living meaningful lives since the removal of fuel subsidy.”
