 NEMA COORDINATES SAR OPS AT THE SCENE OF BUILDING COLLAPSE INVOLVING A THREE STOREY BUILDING UNDER CONSTRUCTION AT GUDU AREA OF FCT At about 0945hrs on Saturday 16th May, 2026, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) was alerted of a building collapse at Gudu District of FCT.  Critical stakeholders including Federal Fire, FCT Fire, NSCDC, NPF, FRSC and Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) were activated while a response team of NEMA from the Abuja Operations Office led by the Head of Operations Mr Zakari Abubakar  and operatives from AYA Emergency Response Bay (ERAB) were deployed to the scene for quick response and coordination.  A reinforcement team  from NEMA Headquarters led by the Director Search and Response (DSAR) Air Cdre Bature Usman was also on ground to provide necessary backup and supervision. NOTICE TO REMOVE UNAUTHORIZED ASSETS ON IKEJA ELECTRIC POLES

 Our attention has been drawn to the flagrant violation and disregard for safety around our electricity poles by individuals and some corporate organizations, for private and commercial use. It is imperative to state that these acts not only portend great danger to the perpetrators and members of the public but also inhibit our operations which ultimately affects the quality of service to our esteemed customers. To this end, our team of technicians will commence the removal of unauthorized assets on our poles across the six Business units as well as explore available extant laws guiding the use of these facilities, with a bid to prosecute errant offenders to serve as a deterrent to others. This information is coming to you as part of our proactive approach for identifying risks and mitigating it, in line with our corporate policy of adhering to world class safety and regulatory standards for the well-being of customers and staff alike.
