 Guinea-Bissau stops vaccine study funded by Trump administration Guinea-Bissau's foreign minister has said his government has stopped a study funded by the Trump administration aiming to evaluate side effects of the life-saving hepatitis B vaccine, including any links to autism. The West African country, one of the region's poorest, has high rates of hepatitis B, and the prospective study had drawn an outcry from scientists and international health bodies because only half the newborns in the trial would get the vaccine at birth. World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Ghebreyesus said it was not ethical. Guinea-Bissau last month suspended the trial pending an ethical review. Critics had said it was being used to test theories linking vaccines to autism, long promoted by U.S. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr but contradicted by scientific evidence.  President Paul Biya returns to Cameroon after death rumours


President Paul Biya of Cameroon on Monday returned to the country amid rumours of his death.

Biya arrived at Yaounde’s international airport, the Cameroonian capital.

The 91-year-old appeared on state broadcaster CRTV after the presidential plane landed, shaking hands with officials next to his wife Chantal, as a jubilant crowd waited to greet him.

A few weeks ago, questions were raised over Biya’s health and whereabouts following his disappearance from public view.

Biya’s whereabouts were unknown after attending the China-Africa summit in Beijing at the beginning of September.

“Today the president is on his way and this will put an end to all the speculation,” declared a CRTV presenter.

“Welcome home, Mr President of the Republic,” said one billboard with a portrait of Biya on a blue background.

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity. Speaking at a meeting with a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria, led by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, at his Lagos residence, on Friday, Dec. 26, Tinubu revealed that the Federal Government had ordered four attack helicopters from the U.S, adding that they will arrive in the country “soon”.
