Tshwane Woman Loses R2.4 Million Pension Payout to Tanzanian Boyfriend

A devastating scam has left a 57-year-old Tshwane woman, Nobuhle*, financially strained and heartbroken after her Tanzanian boyfriend, Mark Kagame, vanished with her entire R2.4 million pension payout.

Gauteng police are searching for Kagame, who allegedly manipulated Nobuhle into resigning from her 30-year teaching career and withdrawing her pension lump sum. He convinced her that her ancestors had left her R20 million, but the money needed “cleansing” before use. Nobuhle withdrew the entire amount, hoping for its return after purification, but Kagame and his accomplice disappeared.

Nobuhle recalls her ordeal: “I couldn’t believe what was happening. When I tried contacting them, they had blocked me. I went to their homes, but they were gone.” The police investigation has stalled, leaving Nobuhle feeling desperate.

The police urge anyone with information about Kagame to come forward. This case highlights the importance of vigilance against scams targeting vulnerable individuals.
