 Telcos may hike call, data tariffs early next year Telecom operators may get approval to increase call and data tariffs before the end of first quarter of 2025, a top official of one of the four big telecom companies said.   The top official who pleaded anonymity stated that the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) might give the telcos approval to increase rates of calls, SMS, and internet bundles. If the approval is given, it will mark the end of over a decade of lobbying by telecom giants like MTN Nigeria, Airtel, and 9Mobile, who have been consistently calling for price adjustments to reflect economic realities.  Daily Trust reports that despite soaring operational costs driven by inflation, telecom operators have not been allowed to raise prices in the last 11 years.  “We strongly hope that our approval to increase tariffs has been granted by the federal government.  Anaocha Mayor Ibekwe Launches Erosion Control Project, Ultra-Modern Plaza

 Anaocha Local Government Area Mayor, Mr. Romanus Ibekwe  has flagged off the immediate commencement of work at erosion site by the Okacha / Nimo axis. Speaking at the site, Mr. Ibekwe said that he flagged off the erosion site for menace control, for the maintenance of existing drainage system and for the construction of an ultra modern plaza that will create over 300 shops for businesses which will enhance economic growth and value in the local government area.


"The Governor's construction of dual roads from Agulu to Nnewi, Amawbia to Ekwulobia and so on, makes Aniocha the centre of epic development,

Aniocha is fast becoming the fifth Urban city in Anambra State after Ekwulobia in line with the Governor's proposal," Ibekwe said, 

 enjoining Anaocha people to imbibe the 'Akuluo Uno Philosophy' to help quicken development that will bring about employment opportunities for them. He appeal to all stakeholders in the LGA to join hands with him for the actualization of greater Anaocha.


The Speaker of Anaocha Legislative Council, Mr. Ndubisi Ononenyi said they came out enmass to work with Mr. Ibekwe because they are happy that he is following the footprints of Governor Soludo by bringing infrastructural development to the grass roots to set the pace in Anaocha.


Sir. Christian Ikebudu, the Present General of Neni, expressed optimism about the flag off, noting that by the end of Mr. Ibekwe's tenure, there will be evidence to show his level of commitment to the development of Anaocha


The APGA Chairman of Anaocha, Mr. Mmaduaburochukwu Ugorji, urged the people to support the leadership of Mr  Ibekwe who  is working hand in hand with the state government to make Anaocha greater.


The APGA woman leader, Mrs.Ijeoma Sunny Egbuna commended the Mayor for tackling the erosion menace in the area to control further damages.

She noted that the completion and commissioning of the proposed ultra modern plaza will house businesses that will beautify and make the site and area busy for Aniocha people in line with Governor Soludo's plan of making Anaocha an urban areas.
