Chadian President Leads Bold Anti-Terror Operation in Lake Chad Region

Chadian President, General Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno has personally directed Operation Haskanite, a major military offensive targeting Boko Haram strongholds in the Lake Chad region.

Stationed on the strategic island of Kaïka-Kindjiria, the President led the operation with his military advisors, launching a well-coordinated plan aimed at dismantling the group’s presence in this key area.

The operation began with intense artillery and airstrikes, dealing heavy blows to Boko Haram bases and setting the stage for a decisive ground and water offensive. In an extraordinary move, the President himself took command of a flotilla, leading troops across the lake to demonstrate his commitment to protecting Chadian land.

Declaring, “We will not surrender an inch of our territory,” Déby Itno inspired both his forces and the local communities, who have long suffered from these attacks.

Beyond its military focus, Operation Haskanite aims to reassure and protect local populations impacted by the ongoing violence.
