 PRESS RELEASE OYO POLICE ARREST SIX SUSPECTED COUNTERFEIT CURRENCY DEALERS, RECOVER €8,900 SUSPECTED FAKE EURO NOTES The Oyo State Police Command has arrested six suspects linked to the possession, circulation and alleged production of counterfeit Euro currency, following a successful patrol operation by operatives of the Command. On 1 September 2026, at about 7:30 p.m., operatives on township patrol around the Labo–Wesley area intercepted three men travelling on a motorcycle. A search conducted on them led to the recovery of 89 pieces of suspected counterfeit €100 notes, with a total face value of €8,900. The suspects were identified as Tijani Saheed, 50, who was found in possession of the suspected counterfeit currency; Oni Oladapo, 67, who is alleged to have supplied the money; Adebayo Saheed, 52, who was the second passenger on the motorcycle; and Hammed Karemu, 25, the motorcycle rider.  Cleric Urges Christians to Shun Heresies, Proclaim Christ as Universal King

Vicar, St Paul's Catholic Church Akpo, Rev Fr George Arugbue has called on men of God to eschew heresies, present Jesus Christ as king of universe.

He said this in a homily during Mass at the Church, in Aguata LGA, to commemorate 2024 Corpus Christi celebration.


The cleric identified heresies as over emphasizing one truth at the expense of the other especially with view of self aggrandizement.


He highlighted the importance of seeking first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and urged Christians to accept Jesus as their Lord and King 


Fr Arugbue enjoined young people not to fall prey to fraudsters who claim to have what it takes to making people rich, advising them to work hard to become solution provider instead of being part of it.
