 Maduro, Celia Flores allowed to use Venezuelan government funds for attorneys, ending legal standoff Former Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife Celia Flores will be allowed to use funds from the Venezuelan government to pay their attorneys, resolving a monthlong dispute over legal financing under U.S. sanctions. In a joint filing submitted Friday night, federal prosecutors and defense attorneys informed the court that the Department of the Treasury would amend a sanctions license to permit payments to the couple’s lawyers without violating existing restrictions. The arrangement includes strict conditions, including that any funds used must have become available after March 5, 2026, and cannot come from restricted foreign government deposit accounts. Prosecutors said the updated authorization resolves the funding dispute that had prompted the defense to seek dismissal of the case, and the defense has since withdrawn those motions without prejudice. FATHER OF FOUR ALLEGEDLY RAPED HIS FRIEND'S 8-YEAR-OLD DAUGHTER IN DELTA. (PHOTOS).

A 37-year-old married man and father of four, Mr Emmanuel Ighoruemu has been arrested for def!ling an 8-year-old girl in the Egbo community, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta state.

 

Activist, Kelvin Ejumudo, who confirmed the incident on Sunday, November 3, 2024, said the suspect confessed to the police to have def!led the minor more than once. 

 

According to Ejumudo, the suspect and the victim’s parents are friends and neighbours.

 

 

“The little girl’s parent took her to the house of Mr Emmanuel and traveled for a day trip only for him to forcefully defiled the minor in his matrimonial bedroom and threatened to k!ll her if she ever tells anyone about it and offered her 500 Naira which the little girl rejected,” he wrote. 

 

“I got a distress call from the family of the little girl and immediately swung into action to arrest Mr Emmanuel Ighoruemu. He’s currently cooling off in the cell of the Nigeria Police Force Ughelli area command of Delta state and he will be charged to court on Wednesday 6th November 2024.

 

“The medical Report has it that the little girl has been infected with warts infection, her hymen broken and vulva ruptured.

 

“She’s currently undergoing medical medical treatment at an undisclosed hospital.

 

“The said Emmanuel Ighoruemu sometime in 2023 also r3ped a little girl in the Egbo community and was flogged by community youths and they took money from him and settled the matter without informing the relevant authorities hence he continued with his escapades of defiling minors within the community.

 

“I am using this opportunity to call on community leaders within the state to desist from settling r3pe and defilement cases as it a criminal matter that should be handed over to the police for prosecution.”.
