In a shocking incident, thieves targeted the historic Bhola Nath Shiv Temple at Gor Ali in Hatkhola, Baksa, Assam, on November 7. Taking advantage of the night, the intruders broke into the temple’s donation box and escaped with cash and other valuables. The stolen money was intended for the temple’s upkeep and charity, leaving the community concerned and shaken.

The Bhola Nath Shiv Temple, under the Anand Bazar police station’s jurisdiction, is a sacred place for many local devotees. Every Monday and Thursday, people gather at the temple to offer prayers and seek blessings, contributing donations to support the temple’s activities. This recent incident has left the devotees disheartened, as they feel a strong spiritual and emotional connection to the site.

This is not the first time the temple has faced theft. In recent years, similar incidents have occurred multiple times, prompting the temple’s management committee to install CCTV cameras to prevent further crimes and gather evidence if needed. Despite these efforts, thieves managed to carry out another successful robbery, raising questions about the effectiveness of the security measures.

Local devotees and the temple management are deeply worried about the recurring thefts, as they rely on donations to maintain the temple. The theft has intensified calls from the community for stronger police action and better security to protect the sacred site from future incidents.
