 PRESS RELEASE  6TH OSOM GAMES TODAY DECLARED OPEN BY THE NSC CHAIRMAN.  The National Sports Commission (NSC) is making headlines once again with its commitment to promoting Nigerian athletes through regular internal competitions. Today, Mallam Shehu Dikko, Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), declared the 6th OSOM Games open in a colourful ceremony at the Moshood Abiola International Stadium in Abuja. This statement reinforces the Commission's dedication to their Renewed Hope Initiative for Nigerian Sports Economy (RHINSE) mandate and their goal of turning sports from a field of consumption to one of production. The OSOM Games, which stands for One Service One Medal, is an inter-security agency competition that aims to foster unity and camaraderie among the various security agencies in Nigeria.  LG COMMISSIONER MOURNS EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN OF ONIGBONGBO LCDA


The Lagos State Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development, Mr. Bolaji Kayode Robert (Bibiire) has expressed shock and sadness over the demise of the Executive Chairman, Onigbongbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) Hon. Dotun Olakanle passed on after a brief illness in the early hours of Saturday, 2nd November 2024.


The Honourable Commissioner, while commiserating with the family and loved ones, said that the Chairman was a humanist and a leader dedicated to the development of his council after assuming office.


Robert, stated this through the Permanent Secretary for the Ministry, Mrs. Kikelomo Bolarinwa who led the delegation of State Government officials on a condolence visit to the family of the deceased Chairman.


According to him, "We lost a gem, an extraordinary Chairman who has dedicated his life to the development of Onigbongbo Local Council Development Area and, by extension, Lagos State".


During the visit, the Commissioner further prayed for the repose of his soul and that God Almighty comfort the wife, family, friends and the people of Onigbongbo Local Council Development Area.


The Permanent Secretary was accompanied on the visit by the Director of the Local Government Administration Department and was received by the APC Chairperson, Onigbongbo Local Council Development Area, Alhaja Iyabo Aminat Akerele and top Council officials of Onigbongbo LCDA.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
