   Police Arrest Cemetery Manager, Grave Digger For Exhuming Corpse, Stealing Casket in Akwa Ibom Operatives of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command have arrested Nsikak Effiong and the manager of Mbiokporo Cemetery, Elijah Matthew Edet, for allegedly conspiring to exhume a freshly buried corpse and steal the casket for sale. The command’s Public Relations Officer, Timfon John, disclosed this in a statement issued to journalists in Uyo on Thursday. According to the statement, the incident occurred on August 3, 2026, at about 11:30 pm in Nsit-Ibom. A vigilante operative who spotted two men conveying a casket on an unregistered motorcycle under the cover of darkness raised the alarm and confronted the suspects. One of the men, identified as Effiong Asuquo, fled the scene, while his accomplice, Nsikak Effiong, was apprehended and handed over to the police.  Minister inaugurates builders’ disciplinary tribunal


The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Dangiwa, has inaugurated a seven-member Disciplinary Tribunal for Registered Builders of Nigeria.


This was disclosed in a recent statement by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Salis Haiba.


The statement noted that the disciplinary tribunal was charged with the duty of considering and determining any case of infraction by the members referred to it by the panel established by the Council of Registered Builders of Nigeria.


In his inauguration speech, the minister was said to have expressed the ministry’s dedication to collaborating with professional bodies and regulatory agencies in the built environment, to ensure it meets global standards.


While acknowledging the responsibility of builders to construct safe and reliable structures that protect lives, the minister emphasised the importance of adhering to regulations and standards in the profession.
