  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements.  Minister inaugurates builders’ disciplinary tribunal


The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Dangiwa, has inaugurated a seven-member Disciplinary Tribunal for Registered Builders of Nigeria.


This was disclosed in a recent statement by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Salis Haiba.


The statement noted that the disciplinary tribunal was charged with the duty of considering and determining any case of infraction by the members referred to it by the panel established by the Council of Registered Builders of Nigeria.


In his inauguration speech, the minister was said to have expressed the ministry’s dedication to collaborating with professional bodies and regulatory agencies in the built environment, to ensure it meets global standards.


While acknowledging the responsibility of builders to construct safe and reliable structures that protect lives, the minister emphasised the importance of adhering to regulations and standards in the profession.
