NBA IKEJA: THE NEED FOR SUCCESSION PLANNING IN LEGAL PRACTICE- DR. KEMI PINHEIRO, OFR, SAN. (PHOTOS). #PRESS RELEASE

 Distinguished Colleagues,

At the NBA Ikeja Branch's monthly meeting held on Monday the 4th of November, 2024 we had our  usual Knowledge Sharing Session with a very novel topic: " *Succession Planning in Legal Practice"* and this topic was well delivered by our own seasoned and cerebral *Dr. Kemi Pinheiro, OFR, SAN.*

Dr. Kemi Pinheiro, OFR, SAN, was able to speak out to the Conscience of both Senior and Junior Lawyers on the urgent need for Lawyers to have succession plans in their various practices so as to enable these practices outlive the founders in delivering top notch services.

The Learned Silk further encouraged Lawyers to consider partnership noting that its better, more profitable and safer.

The Learned Silk admonishes Lawyers to always see the law as a business, discouraging the one-man-show we are used to. He cited examples showing that practices and Law Firms ran as one-man-shows die immediately the founders passes or are incapacitated.

The Learned Silk further unveiled the benefits of Succession Plan in Legal Practice and the prospects therein.

The learned Silk encouraged young Lawyers to begin to have succession Plans for themselves now. He buttressed this point by sharing his experience as a junior Lawyer. He further emphasized that it is achievable and highly profitable both now and in the future.

The learned Silk also shared with us some of the Law Firms who actually had Succession plans despite the fact that the Founders of those Law Firms have passed while some are no longer practicing by virtue of old age.

This session had the attendance of eminent legal practitioners from various NBA Branches in Nigeria.

The session was indeed a thought-provoking Session because nearly every attendee left the meeting with a changed orientation tilted towards having s succession plan.

It was indeed a session of enlightenment for all the participants.

The Branch, Chairman, Mr. Seyi Olawunmi who presided over the monthly meeting sincerely appreciated the learned Silk, Dr. Kemi Pinheiro, OFR, SAN, for taking out time to honour the Branch as a guest Speaker in the November, 2024 monthly meeting and Knowledge Sharing Session.

The Chairman further expressed gratitude to the Learned Silk for his continuous support both intellectually and financially towards the Branch's growth and development.
