 President Trump awarded inaugural FIFA Peace Prize at World Cup draw in Washington  Gianni Infantino, the FIFA President presented the honour onstage at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts on Friday, saying Trump had been selected “in recognition of his exceptional and extraordinary actions to promote peace and unity around the world”. “This is your prize, this is your peace prize,” Infantino said, after Trump took the stage to accept the trophy, a medal and certificate. “There is also a beautiful medal for you that you can wear everywhere you want to go.”   FIFA says the prize is for “individuals who help unite people in peace through unwavering commitment and special actions”.  Accepting the award, Trump called it “one of the great honours of my life”, before claiming to have “saved millions and millions of lives – the Congo is an example, over 10 million people killed and it was heading for another 10 million very quickly. Netherlands beat Germany to clinch first Davis Cup final

Netherlands reached the Davis Cup final for the first time with a battling 2-0 win over Germany on Friday, with captain Paul Haarhuis labelling the feat unique.


Tallon Griekspoor rallied to win his singles match and secure the victory over Germany, advancing the Netherlands to their first Davis Cup final.


After defeating Rafael Nadal in the Spaniard’s career-ending match on Tuesday, Botic van de Zandschulp overcame Daniel Altmaier in the opening singles match on Friday to give the Dutch team a 1-0 lead.


After a tight 6-4 6-7 (12-14) 6-3 victory, the world number 80 required 10 match points to win.


Griekspoor rallied from a set down to defeat Jan-Lennard Struff, preventing the best-of-three match from proceeding to a decisive doubles. 6-7 (4-7) 7-5 6-4.
