 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. SOUTH CAROLINA MAN ARRESTED AFTER TAKING THE LIFE OF A WOMAN AND INJURING A MAN WALKING ON A TRAIL. (PHOTO).


 South Carolina man arrested after taking the life of a woman and injuring a man walking on a trail. He stated he thought she was a deer.


54-year-old Lori Wind was walking on a paved trail at the Sawmill Branch Walking Trail in Summerville, S.C. at around 8:15 p.m., Tuesday, October 29th. As Lori and her husband made their way along the trail they were struck by gunfire. Both Lori and her husband were struck by shots fired from a 20 gauge shotgun.


Both were rushed to a nearby hospital where sadly Lori passed away as a result of her injuries. There has been no updates report on her husband's condition or the extent of his injuries.


While investigating the shooting, deputies discovered the firearm believed to be used in the shooting. Eventually a confidential source would lead them to the door of 20-year-old Kristofer McDonald who surrendered without incident.


According to court documents, McDonald, who was illegally hunting after dark, heard the sounds of leaves and branches moving. Mistaking the sounds for what he thought was a deer, he fired 3 rounds from the 20 guage shotgun he was using to hunt.


There is no report if McDonald had a valid hunting license.


McDonald is being charged with involuntarily manslaughter and assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature; in addition to night hunting, criminal negligent use of a firearm resulting in death and criminal negligent use of a firearm resulting in great bodily harm.


His bond has been set at $400,000.
