WIKE GIVES ABUJA LANDOWNERS FRESH DEADLINE TO PAY C-OF-O FEES. (PHOTO).

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has given owners of the 762 plots of land in Maitama II District, Cadastral Zone, A10, Abuja, a fresh two-week ultimatum to pay for their Certificates of Occupancy (C-of-O) or risk final revocation of their allocation. This was disclosed this in a statement on Friday by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka He said Wike reiterated that the primary interest was not for people to lose their lands, but to get them to make necessary payments to the government. This fresh ultimatum comes a day after Wike revoked lands belonging to former President Muhammed Buhari, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas; and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume. Also, 759 other prominent figures and organisations in Maitama II, Abuja. were also affected by the revocation which was for non-payment of Certificate of Occupancy.  Two More LGAs in Borno State join Open Defecation Free List in Nigeria


Biu and Shani local government areas in Borno state have made the list of 130 local government areas in Nigeria declared open defecation free .

This came to light when the state authorities in collaboration with UNICEF and other partners launched the Borno state Open Defecation Free Roadmap and flagged off campaign for  ODF Borno state.

The occasion which  held at the Musa Usman Secretariat in  Maiduguri also  featured decoration of the wife of the Borno state Governor, Dr Falmata Babagana Umara Zulum as the wash Ambassador and presentation of ODF certificates to Biu and Shani local government chairmen .

  SSANU, NASU threaten strike over withheld salaries The Joint Action Committee of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions have threatened to disrupt industrial peace in universities should the government fail to release the withheld salaries of members. The salaries were seized by the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari during their strike in 2022. The unions, in a joint letter signed on Friday by the President of SSANU, Muhammed Ibrahim and General Secretary of NASU, Peters Adeyemi, questioned the rationale with which the government released four months withheld salaries to members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities but failed to release the withheld salaries of non-academic staff.
