US election: Kamala Harris finally concedes election to Trump

The vice-president of the US, Kamala Harris, has finally called Donald Trump to concede the election.

This comes hours after the race was called and her loss was confirmed.

According to the Daily Mail, Harris had a warning for the president-elect, lecturing him even as she congratulated him.

“She discussed the importance of a peaceful transfer of power and being a president for all Americans,” a senior aide said.

Harris is expected to concede to the nation at Howard University later today.

The White House has already confirmed that President Joe Biden also has called both candidates.

Biden has also invited Trump to meet with him, telling him about “the importance of working to bring the country together.”

My heart is full. Full of gratitude for the trust that you have placed in me, full of love for our country, and full of resolve.

I know you gave so much of yourselves to this fight. And I am so grateful to you.

The outcome of this election is not what we wanted. And it is not what we fought for. But the light of America’s promise will always burn bright – as long as we never give up and keep fighting.

While I concede this election, I do not concede the fight that fueled this campaign.

The fight for the ideals that reflect America at its best: Freedom, opportunity, fairness, and dignity. That is a fight I will never give up.

I will never give up the fight for a future where every American can pursue their dreams. Where the women of America have the freedom to make decisions about their own bodies. The fight to protect our students and our streets from gun violence. The fight for our democracy.

Because the fight for our country is always worth it. And we cannot give up now.

I know this team. And I know that you do not back down from a hard fight.

This is not the time to throw up our hands. This is a time to roll up our sleeves.

You can and will make a difference.

Thank you,

Kamala
