 New UK Prime Minister not the leader Britain needs — Kemi Badenoch UK Conservative Party leader, Kemi Badenoch, has congratulated Andy Burnham on becoming Britain’s new prime minister but said while he is “a nice man,” the country needs a leader capable of making difficult decisions rather than “a people pleaser.” In a statement released on Monday on X following Burnham’s assumption of office, Badenoch wished the new prime minister success but vowed to hold his government accountable as Leader of the Opposition. “Today, Britain has a new Prime Minister. I wish Andy Burnham every success. Because we need a Prime Minister and a Government focused on fixing the public’s priorities,” she said.  Abia Assembly lawmaker says Speaker not facing impeachment


The member representing Isuikwuato Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Lucky Johnson, has dismissed rumours that Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly Emmanuel Emeruwa is to be impeached.


Johnson, who reacted to some social media reports about the fate of the Speaker, described the claims as unfounded lies aimed at misleading the public.


Speaking to newsmen in Umuahia on Wednesday, Johnson, who is a member of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, maintained that the claims that Emeruwa faced a potential impeachment following a purported face-off with Governor Alex Otti were baseless.


“Let it be categorically stated that there is no plan to impeach the Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Emeruwa,” Johnson declared.


The lawmaker further urged Abians to disregard the misinformation and focus on issues that promote unity and development in the state, even as he said that a harmonious relationship exists between the Speaker and other members.
