MALI RENAMES COLONIAL FRENCH STREET NAMES. (PHOTO).

 Mali renames colonial French street names Mali followed Burkina Faso and Niger on Wednesday in renaming streets and squares in its capital to get rid of their French colonial names, AFP reported. Streets bearing the names of members of France's colonial administration have been rebaptised in Bamako, according to a decree by the junta chief. Cedeao Avenue (the French acronym for the Economic Community of West African States or ECOWAS) is also now named after a new strategic confederation that Mali has formed with Burkina Faso and Niger – the Alliance of Sahel States (AES). In all, nearly 25 names have been replaced, among them boulevards, streets, squares and public establishments. Niger and Burkina Faso have already made several changes to street and monument names in the last two years. In October, Niger renamed several historic sites in its capital Niamey which previously bore references to old colonial master France. The Public Relations Officer ( PRO ), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps ( NSCDC ), Lagos State Command, Superintendent of Corps Oluwaseun Abolurin upon resumption back to the Command, today, Tuesday, 3rd December, 2024, presented, the course certificate in Intelligence Analysis and Security Operations Risk Management and the Membership Certificate he newly obtained from the renowned Institute of Security and Strategic Studies, ISSS, at the Institute's Induction, Fellowship and Awards ceremony held recently, at the Sehu Musa Yar'adua Centre, Abuja, on Saturday, 30th November, 2024, to his State Commandant, Mr Adedotun Keshinro.


The Lagos Command's PRO also seized, the certificates' presentation to appreciate the Force Public Relations Officer, Nigeria Police Force, Headquarters, Abuja, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who attended, his induction in person as a special guest. Others include Mr Gbolahan Okemuyiwa and his fellow inductees such as; Assistant Commandant General David Bille, mis rtd, SC Luqman Buraimoh, mis and his dear wife amidst other invited guests.


The Lagos State Commandant congratulated, his PRO on the new feat and also seized, the opportunity to harp on career progression both in and out of the Corps as it will go a long way to prepare personnel to perform better on the job.
