 Global football icon Lionel Messi departed Jamnagar on Tuesday after a brief but high profile visit to Vantara, the wildlife rescue and conservation centre hosted by Anant Ambani. The visit formed part of Messi’s ongoing India tour, which has drawn massive public and media attention across the country. Visuals shared by news agency ANI showed Messi travelling in a tight security convoy from Jamnagar Airport along with fellow Argentine footballers Luis Suárez and Rodrigo De Paul. The departure took place amid heightened security arrangements, reflecting the scale of interest surrounding the legendary footballer’s presence in Gujarat. During their stop in Jamnagar, Anant Ambani hosted the football stars at Vantara, which has gained international recognition for its work in animal welfare, conservation, and rehabilitation.  Anambra taskforce clamps down on shops selling fake drugs, counterfeit food supplements in Eke Awka market

The Anambra State Ministry of Health through the State Taskforce on Counterfeit, Fake Drugs and Unwholesome Processed Food, has clamped down on Shops selling fake drugs and counterfeit food supplements in Eke Awka market.


Addressing the Media, the State Chairman of Taskforce, Pharm. Obum Madike, said the raid was in accordance with the provisions of Section C34 of the Counterfeit, Fake Drugs and Unwholesome Processed Foods Miscellaneous Provision Act of 1999”.


He explained further that the affected shops were raided for offence of sale of unregistered drugs and for non-compliance with other regulatory standards.


"We sealed all the affected shops in Eke-Awka market, we warned others not to indulge in such dubious act because anyone caught will be prosecuted.''


According to Pharm. Madike who is also the Director, Pharmaceutical Service, Anambra State Ministry of Health, the Taskforce under his control is determined to make the State a free-fake drugs city, which is in line with Gov. Chukwuma Soludo's vision of making Anambra a peaceful, secure, livable and prosperous state in Nigeria.


"The essence of the exercise is to curb and eradicate the upsurge in the fake drugs that is in circulation. People are unknowingly taking fake drugs/food supplements and they are dying in their numbers every day.


"The Taskforce have the mandate to eradicate and curb the menace of fake and unwholesome products in the State,'' he said.


He assured the public that after the exercise, the circulated fake drugs in the state, would be eradicated in the state.
