 STATEHOUSE PRESS RELEASE PRESIDENT TINUBU RECONSTITUTES NNPC LIMITED BOARD, APPOINTS NEW CHAIRMAN, GROUP CEO President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a sweeping reconstitution of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited board, removing the chairman, Chief Pius Akinyelure and the group chief executive officer, Mallam Mele Kolo Kyari.   President Tinubu removed all other board members appointed with Akinyelure and Kyari in November 2023.   The new 11-man board has Engineer Bashir Bayo Ojulari as the Group CEO and Ahmadu Musa Kida as non-executive chairman.   Adedapo Segun, who replaced Umaru Isa Ajiya as the chief financial officer last November, has been appointed to the new board by President Tinubu.   Six board members, non-executive directors, represent the country's geopolitical zones. APPOINTMENT OF ADDITIONAL MEMBERS OF ABSU GOVERNING COUNCIL.


The Governor of Abia state, His Excellency, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR has approved the appointment of the following people as additional members of the Governing Council, Abia State University, Uturu.


1. Elelenta Nwabuisi Elele, PHD

2. Stanley Onyekachi Okonta

3. Idris Korform Wabara

4. Rt. Rev. Nkechi Udunma Nwosu PHD

5. Eng. Kalu Nto

6. Monday Ubani, SAN

7. Chinyere Juliet Okeziem-Nwoko 


These appointees will join other statutory members of the council who had been earlier announced to run the board of the University. These appointments take immediate effect.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
