 NEMA COORDINATES SAR OPS AT THE SCENE OF BUILDING COLLAPSE INVOLVING A THREE STOREY BUILDING UNDER CONSTRUCTION AT GUDU AREA OF FCT At about 0945hrs on Saturday 16th May, 2026, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) was alerted of a building collapse at Gudu District of FCT.  Critical stakeholders including Federal Fire, FCT Fire, NSCDC, NPF, FRSC and Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) were activated while a response team of NEMA from the Abuja Operations Office led by the Head of Operations Mr Zakari Abubakar  and operatives from AYA Emergency Response Bay (ERAB) were deployed to the scene for quick response and coordination.  A reinforcement team  from NEMA Headquarters led by the Director Search and Response (DSAR) Air Cdre Bature Usman was also on ground to provide necessary backup and supervision. ARREST OF SUSPECTED ARROWHEAD BEHIND THUGGERY ESCALATION IN KOFAR MATA QUARTERS KANO


On December 24, 2024, at approximately 8:40 pm, a team of Policemen deployed at Kofar Mata/Zango junction near Murtala Mohammed Specialists Hospital Kano, arrested one Kabiru Jamilu, 21 years old, popularly known as 'Awu', a resident of Zango Quarters Kano. The suspect was identified as the mastermind behind the resurgence of Daba fighting between Kofar Mata and Zango youths.


Key Findings:


- Kabiru Jamilu confessed to spearheading the fighting during preliminary investigations.

- Further investigations led to the arrest of Umar Garba, 32, a resident of Zango Quarters Kano, who was found in possession of a sharp long knife.

- Both suspects have been transferred to the Command's Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.


Call to Action:


The Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Salman Dogo Garba, urges residents of Kofar Mata and Zango Quarters to cooperate with the Police by providing information to completely address the situation.
