Trump issues pardon to former Republican congressman Stephen Buyer after insider trading conviction    President Donald Trump has issued a full pardon to former Republican congressman Stephen Buyer, who served nearly two years in prison after being convicted of insider trading tied to post-congressional consulting work. Buyer was sentenced in 2023 to 22 months in prison for illegal stock trades made while working as a consultant and lobbyist. He was ordered to forfeit more than $350,000 in ill-gotten gains and pay a $10,000 fine. He was released from custody in 2025 after his conviction was upheld, with the Supreme Court declining to take up his appeal earlier this year. CP MM AUWAL APPEAL FOR CALM AS THE INVESTIGATION INTO THE GRUESOME MURDER OF SAMAILA GAINA COMMENCES IN EARNEST


Bauchi State – The Bauchi State Police Command is committed to maintaining the safety of our communities and is actively addressing recent criminal incidents. On 14 December 2024, at about 0310 hours, the command received an emergency call from Alhaji Samaila Gaina, a 75-year-old resident of Gaina Village, reporting an armed robbery and tragic shooting at his home.


At around 0250 hours, four unidentified armed assailants broke into his residence, resulting in the unfortunate loss of Alhaji Mohammed Samaila, aged 57, who was fatally injured during the incident. The assailants fled with an undisclosed amount of money. The victim was transported to the Federal Medical Center in Misau, where he was pronounced dead.


In response to this serious incident, the Bauchi State Police Command immediately dispatched a team of homicide detectives to the scene to conduct a thorough investigation. Our dedicated investigators are focused on identifying and apprehending those responsible for this heinous act, and we are committed to ensuring justice for the victim and his family.


CP Auwal Musa Muhammad, the Commissioner of Police for the Bauchi State Command, has expressed deep condolences for the loss suffered by the family and condemned this act of violence. He reassures the public that the Command is fully invested in enhancing community safety and encourages anyone with information regarding this incident to come forward and assist with the investigation. Together, we can work towards a safer environment for all citizens.
