 PRESS RELEASE OPERATION HADIN KAI FOILS MASS ABDUCTION ATTEMPT AT FGGC MONGUNO Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), in collaboration with personnel of the Nigeria Police Mobile Force (MOPOL), successfully foiled an attempted mass abduction by ISWAP terrorists at the Federal Government Girls College (FGGC), Monguno, at about 0130 hours (1:30 a.m.) on 19 July 2026. The FGGC facility is currently being utilized by the Borno State Government as temporary hostel accommodation for students of the Federal Polytechnic, Monguno. The terrorists reportedly gained access to the facility with the assistance of suspected collaborators in an attempt to abduct students. Alert security personnel immediately engaged the terrorists with coordinated and overwhelming firepower, effectively stalling their advance with Sector 3 Quick Reaction Force (QRF) immediately reinforcing the school. CHAN 2024 QUALIFIER: HOME EAGLES BEAT GHANA 3-1 TO CLINCH TICKET. (PHOTO).

Nigeria secured a place at the 2024 African Nations Championship following a 3-1 victory over perennial rivals Ghana in Uyo on Saturday night.


The Home Eagles dominated the opening exchanges, scoring three goals within six minutes in the first half.


Sodiq Ismail opened the scoring for Nigeria in the 18th minute.


The right-back fired home after being set up by captain Junior Nduka.


Nduka doubled the lead three minutes later, slotting the ball into the net from inside the box.


Rangers winger Isaac Saviour capitalised on a defensive error by the Ghanaian defence to score the third goal.


Substitute Amankona Stephen reduced the deficit for the visitors 18 minutes from time.


The Home Eagles will return to the competition after missing the last two editions.
