 Al-Shabab says one of its commanders killed in drone strike Militant group al-Shabab said one of its top commanders, Mohamed Mire, was killed in a drone strike near Kunyo Barrow in Somalia’s Lower Shabelle Region, VOA reported. Al-Shabab did not say when the strike took place but blamed the United States for the killing. The United States military command in Africa, AFRICOM, late on Thursday confirmed conducting a Dec. 24 airstrike against al-Shabab, killing two militants some 10 kilometers southwest of Kunyo Barrow. The AFRICOM statement did not name the targeted militants but said no civilians were harmed. “The command will continue to assess the results of the operation and provide additional information as appropriate. Specific details about the units involved and assets used will not be released to ensure operational security,” said AFRICOM, which confirmed the strike was carried out in coordination with the Somali government.  Chelsea Stunned by Fulham


The boxing day fixtures are not going as planned for top teams in the EPL.


Earlier, Manchester City drew with Everton and now Chelsea, an alleged title contender experienced a devastating defeat after taking the lead in the 16th minute of the game.


Cole palmer opened the scoring but in the 82nd and 95th minute, Fulham scored to get the advantage over Chelsea.


With Manchester City and Chelsea dropping points, Liverpool just have to win to increase the lead.

  SSANU, NASU threaten strike over withheld salaries The Joint Action Committee of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions have threatened to disrupt industrial peace in universities should the government fail to release the withheld salaries of members. The salaries were seized by the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari during their strike in 2022. The unions, in a joint letter signed on Friday by the President of SSANU, Muhammed Ibrahim and General Secretary of NASU, Peters Adeyemi, questioned the rationale with which the government released four months withheld salaries to members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities but failed to release the withheld salaries of non-academic staff.
