 States face allocation cuts as agency demands N100bn monthly  The monthly statutory allocations to state governments from the federation account may decline in the coming months following an official request by the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority to boost the nation’s residual funds with the support of N100bn monthly. The request, which was presented by the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NSIA, Aminu Umar-Sadiq, is aimed at unlocking large-scale investments to drive Nigeria’s economic growth. He made the request at the March revenue-sharing meeting of the Federation Account Allocation Committee held between April 14 and 15, 2025. Our correspondent obtained a copy of his presentation during the meeting on Friday. Umar-Sadiq appealed to the committee, which includes state commissioners of finance, to consider and approve the request, with funding proposed to commence from the March FAAC allocation.  Ebonyi Governor's Father, Who Married 30 Wives and Has 108 Children, Becomes King


The father of Ebonyi State Governor, Chief Ezekiel Nwifuru Nwankpu, who married 30 wives and has 108 children, has been crowned the traditional ruler of Oferekpe Agbaja Autonomous Community in Izzi Local Government Area of the state.


Known for his successful farming career, Ezeogo Nwankpu married 30 women, although some left due to childlessness. He currently lives with 17 wives and has fathered 108 children, including Governor Francis Nwifuru, who is from his fourth wife. Among his children, 21 are graduates, with many having been individually supported by their mothers for their education.


At the coronation, Governor Nwifuru presented his father with a certificate and staff of office, in accordance with Ebonyi State’s Local Government and Chieftaincy Law. Reflecting on the family's past hardships, Nwifuru shared how they endured mistreatment, including the murder of his uncle and forced land acquisition by the villagers.


The new traditional ruler oversees 17 villages, and in his speech, Governor Nwifuru praised his father for his hard work and hospitality. He encouraged him to be just, generous, and promote peace and unity in his community.


The coronation ceremony was attended by prominent figures, including former governors of the state, senators, and other state officials, with Chief Godwin Ogbaga commending Nwankpu's contributions to the community and recognizing the role of his son, Governor Nwifuru, in facilitating the process.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
