 PRESS RELEASE NPF ADDRESSES FALSE CLAIMS ON SOCIAL MEDIA. Condemns False Information, Urges Fact Check. The Nigeria Police Force hereby addresses and clarifies a false and misleading claim circulating on X (formerly Twitter), made by one Adamu Garba Zango, a lecturer at Baze University. Mr. Zango, while recirculating a picture which has been in the internet archives since 2019, alleged that it was that of a Deputy Commissioner of Police serving at the Kaduna State Police Command who was arrested for supplying firearms to bandits and kidnappers. He further shared the said image to support this baseless claim. It is pertinent to state that the individual depicted in the shared photograph is not a serving member of the Nigeria Police Force. Investigations have revealed that the man in the image is one Kingsley Udoyen, a civilian who was arrested by the Akwa Ibom State Police Command on January 2nd, 2019 for impersonating an Assistant Commissioner of Police. EGUMA TAKES THE HELM: ENYIMBA APPOINTS NEW HEAD COACH. (PHOTO).

Nine-time Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) champions, Enyimba International FC, Enyimba have appointed Stanley Eguma, a seasoned tactician and one of the most respected figures in Nigerian football, as their new head coach.


This followed the departure of their former head coach, Yemi Daniel Olanrewaju. Eguma, who previously served as part of Enyimba’s coaching staff during their CAF Champions League triumphs in the early 2000s, brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of success.


He is best known for his long-standing tenure with Rivers United, where he achieved remarkable success, including league titles. His return to Enyimba is seen as a homecoming, with the club hoping his expertise can steer the “People’s Elephant” back to dominance in Nigerian and African football.


The coach’s immediate task will be to stabilize the team and instill confidence among the players. His deep understanding of the elite division coupled with his tactical acumen, makes him a fitting choice to lead Enyimba during this critical phase.


Fans will be eagerly watching as Eguma begins his tenure, with hopes high that he can replicate the glory days and restore Enyimba’s reputation as one of Africa’s football powerhouses.

Olanrewaju’s sack comes after a challenging run of form that saw the team go winless in their last nine matches, including league and continental competitions.


Enyimba’s recent struggles, highlighted by two losses in the continent and their inability to secure victories in the domestic league, forced the club’s hierarchy to reassess their approach.


The decision to part ways with Coach Yema was not an easy one but was deemed necessary to return the team to its winning ways.


The club’s management acknowledged the contributions of Coach Yema during his tenure. Fondly called “Yema” by fans, he played a pivotal role as an assistant to former head coach Finidi George, under the current management guiding the team to a 3rd place finish in the 2023/2024 season, securing qualification for the ongoing CAF Confederation Cup.

  SSANU, NASU threaten strike over withheld salaries The Joint Action Committee of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions have threatened to disrupt industrial peace in universities should the government fail to release the withheld salaries of members. The salaries were seized by the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari during their strike in 2022. The unions, in a joint letter signed on Friday by the President of SSANU, Muhammed Ibrahim and General Secretary of NASU, Peters Adeyemi, questioned the rationale with which the government released four months withheld salaries to members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities but failed to release the withheld salaries of non-academic staff.
