Fire Engulfs Shops at Ibadan's Moniya Garage, Causing Massive Losses

A fire broke out early on Monday, destroying shops and damaging property worth millions of Naira at Moniya Garage in Ibadan.

Yemi Akinyinka, the General Manager of Oyo State Fire Services Agency, confirmed the incident in a statement to the press on Monday. He said the agency received an emergency call at 12:27 a.m. from Mr. Adelola, alerting them to the fire.

Upon arrival, fire personnel discovered that several rows of shops, including container shops, had been affected by the blaze. Akinyinka stated, "We were able to act quickly and prevent the fire from spreading to nearby shops and properties."

Fortunately, no lives were lost in the incident, although significant damage was reported. The cause of the fire was traced to the improper use of electrical appliances, which were left plugged in unattended.

Akinyinka urged residents of Oyo State to handle electrical appliances with caution to prevent future fire accidents.
