  Tribunal throws out petition challenging Gov Okpebholo’s election victory in Edo Governor Monday Okpebholo and the All Progressives Congress (APC) have secured a significant victory in the ongoing petitions challenging their win in the September 21, 2024, governorship election in Edo State. The Edo State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has dismissed a petition filed by the Action Alliance (AA) and Adekunle Rufai Omoaje, citing lack of merit and frivolity. The Tribunal's ruling centered on Omoaje's lack of locus standi, as his petition was not based on election-related matters. Furthermore, the Tribunal noted that Omoaje did not participate in the governorship election, thereby lacking the authority to question the election's validity. Omoaje's grievances stemmed from not being recognized as the National Chairman of the Action Alliance for nominating candidates. Former Osun Deputy Gov Emerges As Owa Obokun Of Ijesaland


Former Osun State deputy Governor, Prince Clement Adesuyi Haastrup of Bilaro Oluodo Ruling House has been elected as the Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, in Osun.


It was gathered that Haastrup defeated nine other candidates in a selection process held at the llesa West Local Government Secretariat.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
