Tribunal throws out petition challenging Gov Okpebholo’s election victory in Edo Governor Monday Okpebholo and the All Progressives Congress (APC) have secured a significant victory in the ongoing petitions challenging their win in the September 21, 2024, governorship election in Edo State. The Edo State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has dismissed a petition filed by the Action Alliance (AA) and Adekunle Rufai Omoaje, citing lack of merit and frivolity. The Tribunal's ruling centered on Omoaje's lack of locus standi, as his petition was not based on election-related matters. Furthermore, the Tribunal noted that Omoaje did not participate in the governorship election, thereby lacking the authority to question the election's validity. Omoaje's grievances stemmed from not being recognized as the National Chairman of the Action Alliance for nominating candidates.
