 Tanzanian opposition Tundu Lissu charged with treason Tanzanian opposition leader Tundu Lissu was charged with treason following his arrest at a public rally in which he called for electoral reforms ahead of planned general elections in October, AP reported. Lissu, chairperson of the main opposition party CHADEMA, was arrested on Wednesday night over what regional police called incitement. The opposition in Tanzania has been calling for electoral reforms to ensure the upcoming poll is free and fair. Lissu on Thursday afternoon arrived at the Kisutu magistrate's court in the commercial capital Dar es Salaam appearing in high spirits and in the company of his lawyers and opposition party politicians. Gout Gout breaks Usain Bolt record as world’s fastest 16-year-old in 200m


Gout Gout broke Usain Bolt’s record as the fastest 16-year-old in history in the 200m, clocking 20.04 seconds at the Australian All Schools Championships in Brisbane on Saturday.

Gout broke Usain Bolt’s record for 16-year-olds of 20.13 seconds from 2003. Gout turns 17 on Dec. 29. The only men in history to have run faster than 20.04 at age 17 are American Erriyon Knighton (19.84) and Bolt (19.93).

Gout also went under the entry standard of 20.16 for next September’s World Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Tokyo.

“These are adult times and me, just a kid —I’m running them,” Gout said, according to Australia’s track and field federation. “It’s going to be a great future for sure.”

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
