The credibility of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) voters’ register has come under intense scrutiny ahead of the 2027 general elections, following revelations by INEC Chairman Professor Joash Amupitan that names of deceased persons remain on the register. Amupitan disclosed that names of voters who died as far back as 15 years ago are still listed, a situation critics say could undermine the integrity of the 2027 polls and lead to significant financial waste through the printing of excess ballot papers and other election logistics. The INEC chairman made the revelation while receiving the Director-General/Chief Executive Officer of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Abisoye Coker-Odusote, and her management team during a courtesy visit in Abuja on Wednesday. INDIA WOMAN RECEIVED A DECOMPOSING DEAD BODY IN A PARCEL ALONG WITH A LETTER DEMANDING FOR ₹1.3 CRORE. (PHOTO).

A shocking incident was reported from West Godavari district in Andhra Pradesh, where a woman received a decomposing dead body in a parcel along with a letter demanding ₹1.3 crore. The woman, identified as Naga Tulsi, had been building a house on a government-allotted site and had sought financial assistance from the Kshatriya Seva Samithi. Initially, the Samithi sent tiles for her house, and Tulsi later requested electrical appliances such as lights, fans, and switches.

On Thursday night, a delivery person brought a package to Tulsi’s home, which was supposedly meant to contain the promised appliances. However, upon opening the package, Tulsi was horrified to find the body of an unidentified man along with a threatening letter demanding ₹1.3 crore. The letter warned of serious consequences if the demand was not met, though it remains unclear whether the threat was directed at Tulsi or someone in her family.

The discovery caused panic in Tulsi’s household, and the police were immediately informed. Superintendent of Police (SP) Nayeem Asmi visited the scene to investigate the matter. The body, which appeared to be four to five days old, was sent to a government hospital for an autopsy. Authorities are working to identify the deceased man and determine whether he was murdered.

The police have also summoned representatives of the Kshatriya Seva Samithi for questioning to understand their role, if any, in the case. Investigators are probing how the body ended up in the package and who was behind the shocking incident.
