 RE: MISLEADING CLAIMS REGARDING EXTORTION OF MOTORISTS BY LAGOS STATE TASKFORCE – YET-TO-BE-IDENTIFIED SECURITY OPERATIVES: ANOTHER CASE OF MISTAKEN IDENTITY The Lagos State Taskforce wishes to address a misleading narrative circulating on social media, particularly in a viral video shared by protesters and concerned groups who recently demonstrated at the Lagos State House of Assembly. The protest was in response to the alleged extortion of motorists by security operatives, yet to be identified, who are not officials of the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Unit. We categorically state that the Lagos State Taskforce had no involvement in the said incident.  Kano Emir to Personally Escort New District Head to Bichi Despite Security Concerns


Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, has reaffirmed his commitment to personally escort the newly appointed District Head of Bichi, Munir Sanusi Bayero, to his domain, despite threats from security forces. Speaking during a solidarity visit by a delegation of traditional and religious leaders, led by Bichi Local Government Chairman Alhaji Hamza Sule, the Emir assured the people of Bichi that the Emirate Council would ensure the peaceful transfer of their District Head. 


Sanusi revealed that a new date would be set for the District Head’s journey to Bichi after an earlier attempt was blocked by security personnel. Despite the disruption, Sanusi emphasized that peace and prayer would guide them through the situation. Sule, in his remarks, reiterated the full support of the people of Bichi for the Emir, underscoring their loyalty and backing for the Emirship of Muhammadu Sanusi II.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
