Labour Party Seeks Court Ruling on Defectors' Seats

The Labour Party (LP) has asked the court to declare the seats of its lawmakers who defected to other parties as vacant. This follows recent defections, including that of Alfred Ajang Illiya from Jos South/Jos East Federal Constituency, who joined the APC, citing a leadership crisis within the LP.

Another defector, Daniel Chollom, also moved to the APC, expressing his desire to support the President's national development agenda. The LP condemned these defections, accusing the lawmakers of betraying their constituencies, and filed a lawsuit to compel the National Assembly leadership to declare their seats vacant and recover any emoluments received after their defection.
