 Setting the Records Straight on  Citizen Asar Michael Sesugh's  Death The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,  EFCC,  considered it imperative to clear the air on some recent incidents at its Makurdi Zonal Directorate,  Benue State.   Operatives of the Directorate arrested 26 suspected cyber fraudsters on April 28,  2026.  They were profiled and kept in custody for further investigations after obtaining a Remand Order at a Magistrate Court.  Shortly after their arrest,  specifically on May 4,  2026,  three of the suspects sought permission to use the lavatory at the Directorate's  Holding Facility and were permitted.   They cashed in on the opportunity,  broke the toilet's roof and escaped from detention.  Several efforts were made to re- arrest them to no avail.  Multiple Children Feared Dead in Ibadan Carnival Stampede


A stampede at a carnival in Ibadan, Oyo State, has reportedly claimed the lives of many children. The incident occurred on Wednesday in the Bashorun area of Ibadan.


While the exact number of casualties has not been confirmed, it is known that several victims were rushed to hospitals across the Ibadan metropolis.


The carnival, scheduled for Wednesday, saw many parents bring their children to the venue on Tuesday, with others arriving in the early hours of Wednesday. The rush to enter the event space led to a stampede, resulting in multiple fatalities, with many children feared dead.


Efforts by DAILY POST to get a statement from the Oyo State Police Command's Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, were unsuccessful. However, the Oyo State Government has confirmed the tragedy.


Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Dotun Oyelade, confirmed the incident, stating that a private children’s fun fair at Basorun Islamic High School led to the stampede, which resulted in several deaths and injuries. He assured that a rapid response team was mobilized and victims were swiftly transported to various hospitals for medical care.

Molly Specialist Hospital
