 The credibility of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) voters’ register has come under intense scrutiny ahead of the 2027 general elections, following revelations by INEC Chairman Professor Joash Amupitan that names of deceased persons remain on the register. Amupitan disclosed that names of voters who died as far back as 15 years ago are still listed, a situation critics say could undermine the integrity of the 2027 polls and lead to significant financial waste through the printing of excess ballot papers and other election logistics. The INEC chairman made the revelation while receiving the Director-General/Chief Executive Officer of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Abisoye Coker-Odusote, and her management team during a courtesy visit in Abuja on Wednesday.  Nigeria's First Female Navy Aircraft Pilot Makes History


Lieutenant Changfe Maigari has made history as the first female pilot in the Nigerian Navy, a milestone since the Navy's establishment in 1964. Maigari, from Langtang North in Plateau State, began her journey in 2016 when she graduated from the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) and was commissioned as a Sub Lieutenant. 


She served aboard the Nigerian Navy Ship Unity before earning her 'Pilot Wing' award in 2024 during the NN Ceremonial Sunset in Rivers. Reflecting on her achievement, Maigari shared how her military upbringing and perseverance led to this breakthrough, encouraging young girls to pursue military careers. She expressed gratitude for the support from her family, colleagues, and faith. The Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, commended Maigari for her achievement during the event, which also highlighted the Nigerian Navy's significant progress in addressing maritime crimes.
