Ogun State’s Financial Creativity Elevates IGR Ranking – Gov. Abiodun

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to completing all ongoing developmental projects without imposing additional taxes on residents. Highlighting the state’s financial creativity and transparency, he noted that Ogun is now the top internally generated revenue (IGR) state in Nigeria after Lagos, making it one of the most viable states in the country.

Speaking during the budget presentation at the Ogun State House of Assembly, the Governor emphasized his focus on projects that drive revenue, create employment, and align with the State Economic Development Plan & Strategy 2021–2025. He stated that his administration has significantly reduced the state’s infrastructure deficit in under six years, guided by the ISEYA mantra, which has spurred growth across sectors.

Governor Abiodun stressed that his developmental agenda prioritizes projects aligned with the Medium-Term National Development Plan 2021–2025, covering areas such as economic growth, infrastructure, governance, human capital, and regional development.

Despite efforts to increase revenue and block financial leakages, he assured residents that his administration would not impose additional financial burdens.

The Governor recently presented a proposed 2025 budget of over ₦1.05 trillion to the State House of Assembly, tagged the “Budget of Hope and Prosperity,” with ₦453.56 billion allocated for recurrent expenditure and ₦600.98 billion for capital projects.
