 TEAM LAGOS EMERGES TOP AT 23RD NATIONAL SPORTS FESTIVAL SOUTH WEST ELIMINATION Lagos State athletes proved their dominance in the South West by edging out regional competitors and emerging top in the five team events contested at the elimination series qualifier for the 23rd National Sports Festival later this year in Enugu. The elimination series featured team events in volleyball, basketball, football, beach volleyball, and cricket in male and female categories. While the team clinched only the female football ticket by topping their group, they showed dominance in three other sports by winning both the male and female tickets. Team Lagos took first position in the volleyball male and female categories. The male team defeated their counterparts from Ondo in the finals by 25-18, 24-26, 25-20, and 25-20, while the female team defeated Team Oyo by 25-18, 22-25, 28-26, 16-25, and 15-8.  Onitsha North Mayor Appoints 11 New Aides

In a strategic move to enhance service delivery and drive development in Onitsha North Local Government Area, the Mayor Mr. Nweze Tony Nwora has announced the appointment of 11 new officials to key positions.


The appointments, which cut across various sectors, were aimed at strengthening the local government's capacity to deliver effective services to the people. Those appointed included; seasoned professionals and grassroots mobilisers, who are expected to bring their expertise and experience to bear in their respective roles.


The new appointees were;Akunne Oseloka Megafu as Special Adviser on Culture and Tourism, Anyaokei Chinedu Victor as Personal Assistant on Publicity, and Chukwuemeka Ifeoma as Personal Assistant on Women Mobilisation.


 Others were;  Mrs. Aniobodo Josephine, Mrs. Akubudo Vivian, Lady Nnabuife Nkiru, Amaka Chinedu, and Abadom Nwannonaku Uju, were appointed as Personal Assistants on Women Mobilisation. Additionally, Odi Ilukwe and Mr. Ibeakaeze Tochukwu will serve as Community Liaison Officers, while Nwanyikaibeya C. Obi was appointed as Coordinator of Native Markets.


Mayor Nwora charged the new appointees to work tirelessly to deliver on the administration's promise of improved service delivery and development. He expressed confidence that their combined expertise and experience would help drive growth and transformation in Onitsha North LGA.


On behalf of the appointees, Mr. Ibeakeze Tochukwu, thanked the Mayor for the opportunity and trust he gave to them , and promised that they will work diligently to help him achieve a great success in the area.
