A 12-hour rescue operation successfully evacuated over 1,000 vehicles stranded between Solang Nallah and the Atal Tunnel near Manali.  The police confirmed that all passengers have safely reached Manali, though efforts are still underway to free some vehicles trapped in heavy snow. The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has begun clearing snow to restore smooth road connectivity. According to DSP Manali, around 60 to 70 vehicles remain stuck between Solang Nallah and Dhundi but are expected to arrive in Manali soon. Despite the weather improving, the thick snow has made driving conditions extremely dangerous. Senior officials, including DSP Manali, SDM Manali, and SHO Manali, are on-site, monitoring the situation with the help of the police and rescue teams.  "Pay Up or Step Down!”: Governor Nwifuru Issues Tough Ultimatum to LG Chairmen

Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State is not holding back!

In a bold move, he has ordered all local government chairmen to clear outstanding salaries and pensions by noon on Monday, December 23 or face the ultimate consequence—resignation.

Describing the delays as "worrisome," Nwifuru expressed frustration over the neglect of civil servants' welfare, which he says undermines his administration's commitment to good governance.

"This is unacceptable," the Governor declared. "If you can’t fulfill your duty, humbly resign!"

He said, “By 2 pm tomorrow, all the staff of the Local Government should receive their salaries and pensions,” he said.

“We are determined to deliver good governance to our people. If you are for us, you join us in what we are doing; if you are not, you leave.”

“If by 2 pm tomorrow, staff are not paid October and November salaries, the chairmen should resign”

The clock is ticking. Will the council chairmen comply, or is this the beginning of a political shake-up in Ebony.
