Trump issues pardon to former Republican congressman Stephen Buyer after insider trading conviction    President Donald Trump has issued a full pardon to former Republican congressman Stephen Buyer, who served nearly two years in prison after being convicted of insider trading tied to post-congressional consulting work. Buyer was sentenced in 2023 to 22 months in prison for illegal stock trades made while working as a consultant and lobbyist. He was ordered to forfeit more than $350,000 in ill-gotten gains and pay a $10,000 fine. He was released from custody in 2025 after his conviction was upheld, with the Supreme Court declining to take up his appeal earlier this year.  Police Demolish Ibom Youth Council Headquarters, Arrest Three Suspects


The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has demolished the building serving as the operational headquarters of the Ibom Youth Council (IYC) in Ikot Isighe, Mkpat Enin Local Government Area. The demolition followed the group's proscription by Governor Umo Eno, who had directed security agencies to halt their activities. 


According to Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Timfon John, the operation, based on credible intelligence, led to the arrest of three suspects, while members of the group fled the scene. Evidence revealed the group had begun acquiring arms, conducting military training, and planning attacks on security formations and private property. The police have vowed to maintain the state's peace and warned property owners against leasing to groups involved in criminal activities, as such properties will be demolished, and landlords treated as accomplices.
