Trump issues pardon to former Republican congressman Stephen Buyer after insider trading conviction    President Donald Trump has issued a full pardon to former Republican congressman Stephen Buyer, who served nearly two years in prison after being convicted of insider trading tied to post-congressional consulting work. Buyer was sentenced in 2023 to 22 months in prison for illegal stock trades made while working as a consultant and lobbyist. He was ordered to forfeit more than $350,000 in ill-gotten gains and pay a $10,000 fine. He was released from custody in 2025 after his conviction was upheld, with the Supreme Court declining to take up his appeal earlier this year.  Stampede: Organizers of Ibadan Children's Carnival Arrested – Makinde


Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has announced the arrest of the organizers of a children’s carnival in which an undisclosed number of children were reportedly killed in a stampede.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the Governor confirmed the incident took place in the Bashorun area of Ibadan earlier that day.


Makinde stated that the state government has taken immediate actions to prevent further fatalities, including initiating an investigation into the incident. He emphasized that those responsible will be held accountable.


The Governor also mentioned that medical teams and ambulances have been dispatched to the scene, the event has been halted, and attendees were safely escorted out of the venue.


“Earlier today, a tragic incident occurred at Islamic High School Basorun, where an event for families was being held. We have deployed security personnel to restore order and prevent further casualties, while medical personnel and ambulances have been sent to assist. The event has been canceled, and attendees have been escorted off the premises,” Makinde stated.


He also confirmed that the primary organizers of the event, which led to the stampede, have been arrested, and investigations are currently underway.
