 NDC STATEMENT ON COURT RULING Our attention has been drawn to a ruling by the Federal High Court sitting in Lokoja this morning, wherein His Lordship, Honourable Justice Isah Dashen, gave a ruling on an application filed by an unregistered association known as Peace Movement Party. The public knows that by December 2025, the Nigeria Democratic Congress  as an association complained of INEC’s refusal to register us as a political party, whereupon we proceeded to the Federal High Court. The Federal High Court upheld our constitutional right to freedom of association under the Constitution and compelled INEC to register us, which INEC did. Since then, we have started political activities, embarked on the registration of members, held congresses from ward to national levels, held conventions, and concluded primaries to all offices following INEC’s timetable. UN Warns of War Crimes as Israeli Attacks on Gaza Hospitals Escalate Humanitarian Crisis


The UN Human Rights Office has condemned Israeli attacks on hospitals in Gaza, warning that they have pushed the healthcare system to the verge of collapse. Between October 2023 and June 2024, 136 strikes hit 27 hospitals and medical facilities, causing significant casualties and infrastructure damage. Israel claims these hospitals were used by Hamas, but the UN finds the evidence vague and unsubstantiated. Such attacks may constitute war crimes under international law, which protects medical facilities during conflict.


The report stresses that attacks on hospitals, civilian populations, or disproportionate strikes could violate humanitarian law, and in some cases, deliberate destruction of healthcare facilities might amount to collective punishment. Despite Israel’s assertion that it follows international law, the bombardment of medical centers in Gaza has exacerbated the dire humanitarian crisis and undermined protections for civilians.
