Mali renames colonial French street names Mali followed Burkina Faso and Niger on Wednesday in renaming streets and squares in its capital to get rid of their French colonial names, AFP reported. Streets bearing the names of members of France's colonial administration have been rebaptised in Bamako, according to a decree by the junta chief. Cedeao Avenue (the French acronym for the Economic Community of West African States or ECOWAS) is also now named after a new strategic confederation that Mali has formed with Burkina Faso and Niger – the Alliance of Sahel States (AES). In all, nearly 25 names have been replaced, among them boulevards, streets, squares and public establishments. Niger and Burkina Faso have already made several changes to street and monument names in the last two years. In October, Niger renamed several historic sites in its capital Niamey which previously bore references to old colonial master France. Mali has been ruled by the military since back-to-back coups ...

UPDATE: HAILEY ZENK HAS BEEN ARRESTED FOR VIOLATING HER PROBATION. (PHOTO).

Update: Hailey Zenk has been arrested for violating her probation.

She may have to face the prison time that was suspended during her sentencing. Zenk operated a vehicle while drunk and under the influence of drugs. She wrecked her vehicle and ended the lives of three of her passengers in 2023. Another passenger was permanently disabled.

Zenk turned herself  into custody today, Wednesday, December 11th.

Many people in her community were outraged that Zenk's lengthy prison sentence was suspended and she did not have to serve more than 120 days in jail. Hailey Zenk had to undergo 6 months of SCRAM alcohol monitoring. This is a transdermal ankle bracelet that detects alcohol levels in a person's system through their perspiration.

The prosecutor stated that Hailey Zenk's SCRAM device was tampered with for 6 and 1/2 hours on November 22nd. During that time there was alcohol detected in Zenk's perspiration. Then, just 2 days later on November 24th, her device was tampered with for nearly 24 hours. This is a direct violation of her probation and she is now officially revoked. Mike Wood, the prosecuting attorney, has filed a motion to revoke Hailey Zenk's suspended prison sentence. Zenk's alcohol detection device was tampered with, within the first 2 months of her wearing it.

She is being held on a $20,000 bond without the 10% provision being applicable. Zenk was sentenced to a decade in prison before the sentence was suspended and she was given the chance to use the SCRAM device for her probation.

The original story is below and it explains each of her sentences that were suspended.

Teen who pleaded guilty in the Lincoln County Missouri crash that took the lives of 3 teens, receives suspended execution of sentence.

17-year-old Hailey Zenk was driving on the night of February 5th, 2023 when her vehicle went airborne while topping a hill. The vehicle then crashed into a tree resulting in the loss of life to 3 of her passengers Emily McNees, Kaden Tyler and Will Flickinger. 1 other passenger survived the crash but ultimately spent months in the hospital rehabilitating.

At the time of the crash, Zenk was found to have alcohol, fentanyl, Xanax, ketamine and marijuana in her system. The family has asked me to let everyone know that the ketamine was administered after the accident.

Zenk pleaded guilty to the charges against her and was sentenced to 7 years for DWI leading to injury, 10 years for driving intoxicated leading to 2 or more deaths, and 7 years each for 3 counts of involuntary manslaughter.

However the judge opted to give Zenk a suspended execution of the sentence.  This ultimately means Zenk will now serve only 120 days in jail and be on probation for 5 years.

There are photographs online showing Miss Zenk's family members flipping off the deceased victim's family members after the trial.
