 Russia launches massive drone and missile barrage on Ukraine, killing at least 18 civilians and striking Kyiv and multiple cities  Russia carried out a large-scale overnight assault on Ukraine, launching hundreds of drones and dozens of missiles that killed at least 18 civilians and wounded more than 100 others across multiple cities, officials said Tuesday. The strikes hit Kyiv, Dnipro and other regions, with emergency crews working through destroyed residential buildings where some victims were trapped under rubble. In Dnipro, rescuers recovered the bodies of a 3-year-old child and a mother and her 8-year-old son, while officials reported 12 deaths in the city and six in Kyiv. The bombardment stretched from night into daylight, with explosions reported across wide areas of the country.  40 Professors Vie for UNN Vice-Chancellor Position


A total of 40 professors are in the race to become the next Vice-Chancellor of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN).


Among the contenders are Professor Malachy Okwueze, a former Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the university and ex-Deputy Chief of Staff to a former Enugu State governor.


Other prominent candidates include current Deputy Vice-Chancellors of UNN, Professor Romanus Ezeokonkwo (a former Supervising Vice-Chancellor) and Professor Daniel Nwachukwu (Deputy Vice-Chancellor of UNN's Enugu Campus, UNEC).


Additionally, Prof. Paulinus Ugwuoke, Chairman of the Nsukka Professors Association; Prof. Jerry Ugwuanyi; and Prof. Obinna Onwujekwe are also in contention, among others.


A university insider revealed on Friday that the Governing Council has reduced the number of candidates to 26.


This follows the expiration of Professor Charles Igwe's tenure as Vice-Chancellor, with Professor Polycarp Chigbu currently serving in an acting capacity.
